Keeping your garden in the loop !
Why is it good to save water?
Water = Life !
Most plants give plenty of warning signs of water deficiency before seriously wilting. Leaves and stems become less turgid, leaves hang and stems slump.
But if your garden is constantly in need of more water than you are prepared to give (or pay for) — we have good news! Mulch! So important for cooling the soil and preserving soil moisture — both will help keep plant roots active and your plants growing.
There is a lot more to mulching, than you think !
Mulch does a number of useful things in your garden, but one of the most important is the addition of nutrients which in turn, provides your plants with a steady influx of organic nutrients that are in a form that your plants can take up easily.
Mulch also protects against extreme temperatures and high rainfall - keeping moisture in the soil where it is needed and reflecting extreme heat.
Tip: Group together plants with similar water requirements.
